You may have noticed this new acronym popping up on some of our products. RoHS stands for Restrictions on Hazardous Substances, and it's a directive that could have a huge impact on the production and disposal of consumer electronics. First adopted in Europe in 2006 (and later adopted in California in 2007), RoHS restricts the use of six dangerous substances in lots of common electronics. According to the official RoHS compliance Web site (www.rohs.eu), the RoHS symbol indicates that "new electrical and electronic equipment put on the market does not contain any of the six banned substances: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, poly-brominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), in quantities exceeding maximum concentration values."
While some military and medical equipment is exempt from RoHS compliance, the electronics governed by the standard are among the most common you'll find in your home, from radios to MP3 players to cell phones and (increasingly) computers. In practical terms, the standard protects factory workers at the production level, sharply reducing their exposure to hazardous substances. The standard also has a profound impact on the disposal and recycling of electronics, in that disposed substances will no longer have at least six of the most hazardous chemicals formerly found in electronics, and recycled electronics will not expose workers to toxics as they harvest components.

The CC Quick Charger-2 can be a great investment. Other battery chargers can overcharge batteries creating heat, which reduces battery life. The QuickCharger-2 has a micro-controller that monitors the charging status of each battery and shuts it off at the right time so it does not overcharge. This smart technology is called "Negative Delta V" and is considered one of the best ways of extending the lifetime of rechargeable batteries.
Insert any combination of (4) AAA, AA, C, D or (2) 9-volt size NiMH in any state of charge and close the lid. You can be charging one set of batteries while another set is in use. This means no more last minute trips to the grocery store for high priced batteries. You can recharge NiMH batteries about 500 times and they last for years.
A discharge option is also available which can be used to improve the capacity of new or seldom used batteries. Additional features include an LCD display screen that shows each battery and its charge level as it charges or discharges. The LCD display will also let you know if the battery is bad or is causing a short circuit. And there is a safety timer built in for extra protection to prevent overcharging in special circumstances. There is a USB port in back for charging your MP3 player, cell phone or other USB devices. When using the USB port for charging, you must remove any batteries you have in the charger or wait until they have finished charging before the USB port will activate. The Quick Charger-2 is not recommended for charging NiCad type batteries.

There is a good chance that you are using old batteries that have lost their charge capacity. It is possible to recover some of their rated capacity by charging and discharging them over several cycles. They should begin to take longer to charge once they are conditioned further. It is also a good idea to condition new batteries for several cycles to obtain their full capacity.
You may also be using the wrong type of batteries. Batteries should have "NiMH" printed on the outside to indicate that they are the correct technology.
Yes. After charging is completed a '25-50mA' trickle charge will be applied for an amount of time depending on the size of the battery. Although the battery will be classified as "FULL" and is ready to be used, the trickle charge will "top off" the battery for extra capacity.
After the primary charge has finished, a trickle charge will continue for several hours depending on the size of battery used. The display backlight will shut off after the trickle charge is complete.
